The Scholar (Part 1)

He got his first tablet at the early age of 8
The father couldnt stand it but the mother couldn’t wait
She argues that the boy deserved to be just like his mates
He argued that without it, his aptitude was great

“Digitized crack” is what the dad called the pad
“these niggas learn to scroll before they even learn to read”
“with him its not the case” —the best rebute the mama had.
“He’s making all As, who cares if its not what he needs.”

And smart he was indeed, in fact the pad seemed to foster,
his interest in microchips and ware they say is softer
so often dad would buy him books that taught him coding proper
at least that way he might delay a brain that may be rotted

but then the father thought of distant futures if he prospered
what if the boy creates the latest greatest A.I. models
—capable of solving all the major nation’s problems
and does this all before he’s old enough to buy a bottle?

then two years into college, he’s received 100 offers
from companies and agencies who taunt him with the dollar
The scholar ditches school despite how much his father hollers
ignores the fine print and then—signs the line that’s dotted.
